Electronet's electrical appliances chain was looking for a new aesthetic and functional upgrade of its online website to increase its online sales and to equally strengthen its network of over 80 physical stores.
Thus, our team was chosen to design from the ground up the company's online presence. The website should be easily accessible from any device. Desktops, mobiles, tablets.
In all of the websites, but especially, in online stores, loading speed is considered a critical factor for their usability and most importantly, the consumer's experience. In an experiment conducted by Amazon, it was shown that for every 100ms delay that was added to the loading of the page, sales fell 0.7%, which is a small, yet critical percentage. It’s not the experience of the customer only that gets hurt, it's also the website rankings. Google has officially stated that loading speed can affect organic results as well as Google AdWords CPC.
Therefore, in Electronet.gr, in addition to the usual techniques of optimization of graphics, server, protocols, advanced optimization techniques were used, which make the browsing and search experience on the website extremely fast since the response time is less than 200ms!
Interconnections and automations
Automation of the product updating processes, their stock and orders is essential in every online store that aims high. So, here, too, several interconnections to the ERP and to the courier service were built.
We knew from the beginning that it is not easy to capture all this information in a clean flat design, but in the end, we did it! Each device type (mobile, tablet, desktop) has a separate layout, carefully designed to be easily accessible and fast.
An online trust bond
With more than 80 physical stores throughout Greece, it was a prerequisite to include a map that would show where the stores are located. Thus, on the stores page, the user can automatically find the closest store to him based on his location as well as search for the specific address, postal code and city (even when those are misspelt). The system can easily find the location the user wants and will cleverly zoom out or zoom in on the map to show the stores available in the area.
The new Electronet site, of course, could not miss Netstudio's advanced filters and smart search, FindasticTM. In fact, in this new version, the searches have extended the automatic correction processes allowing users to make even more typing and spelling mistakes!
At the same time, the synonyms engine gets results even for words that are not anywhere in the title or description of the product.
Discount coupons, offers & bundles
The includes groundbreaking Netstudio Promotions engine, which allows administrators to create simple and complex promotions within seconds. This includes offers, bundles, coupons and their corresponding landing pages and cross-selling messages at checkout. For example, if the administrator comes up with an offer that provides free shipping to those who will buy a washing machine in the next 10 days, the promotion mechanism will choose the correct spot in the website where the message will be more effectively displayed to users. Otherwise, if an offer is made that gives a small device gift to whoever buys a washing machine, then the checkout will show the gift options to those who have added a washing machine in their basket. The combinations and potentials that the administrator of the online shop has in his hands are limited only by his imagination!
A product comparison engine was included in the website with two advanced features:
1. A selection mechanism where you can select even products from different categories.
2. A comparison table where characteristics that differ among the products appear in different color, making it easier for the user to compare and evaluate.
Checkout with an emphasis on usability
At Electronet.gr we redesigned every procedure of the checkout, making it more functional and understandable. The system supports both "guest" checkout and "regular" checkout, but even if the user selects the "guest checkout" option, an account is created where the user is capable of activating using his own password, giving him access to his order history up to this point.
In addition, the user can simply select the nearest collection store by entering his postal code.
Finally, many other small features, such as the automatic conversion of characters into capitals, make the process as smooth as possible, with the ultimate goal of optimizing conversion rate.
Excellent user experience for e-shop managers
Being able to effectively use and manage the online shop is necessary, since it needs to be upgraded with new offers, banners, slides, blog posts etc. In this way, we designed a special management mechanism so the process is easy and seamless even when used by the most "non-technical minded" user.
To support Electronet's B2B needs, a mechanism has been set up that automatically recognizes the B2B user, displays wholesale prices, and activates the wholesales payment methods on checkout.
